Collaborating on a series of photo zines
You will have to collaborate to produce a series of three photography zines based upon anything you like. It's up to you to make them link and contain some form of narrative, theme or style that reflects the fact that they are a part of the same series. This can be done by using the same style of photography through out or creating the physical publication in such a way that clearly translated the fact they are together. This can be interpreted however you like.
Using both your skills of photography, publication making, layout design and knowledge upon creating a narrative within the zines, you must be able to create some form of clear message throughout the zines. This can be done in the way the zines are produced or the way the content has been sourced.
Your target audience is small independent book publishing companies, zine fares and other small press businesses and events. This should reflect how the style of the content and creation of the physical publication will translate. You will encounter quite an abstract competition, so make sure your ideas are strong and carry weight through every aspect of the project.
You need to consider a tight budget. If these zines were to sell you need to guarantee a profit. Consideration into materials used, printing method and binding will reflect this. Don't forget that this will also effect the quality of the work within and possibly change the narrative or story you are trying to tell.
