OUGD503 ZINE COVERS INITIAL IDEAS FEEDBACK

After meeting with Mike and reviewing our initial ideas in person, we decided that the inverted cover idea was the most successful one. One thing that would needed to be changed was to take increase the size of the image in the center. Apart from that, the aesthetic was the right one and using that typeface (Raleway) was the right choice instead of a serif one. Increasing the image size would be a simple task. This would give the zine more emphasis on what was within and perhaps covering up a bit of that white space would make it look more finished.

We continued to discuss things such as the layout of the zines. We would attempt to make them all roughly 20-24 pages long however some of the briefs contained a lot less content compared to others so this would be a struggle. After some discussion we decided we would experiment with the layout of some of the images, increasing the sizes and only revealing certain aspects of them until the bigger reveal of the whole image. This would help us in fulfilling that page number.

One final thing we discussed was that we would remain with the A5 dimensions. I suggested several different options relating to the imagery like the same dimensions as the exposures or a straight up square. He made the point that further down the line, it would be more cost efficient to select A5 as the extra effort of cutting the paper could cost more. This doesn't meant it would be worse quality though, we still have to decide on the paper stock and binding for instance.
