Twenty Six Characters Idea Generation
Today I started a new studio brief for the publication 'Twenty Six Characters'. I had to bring in five objects that had meaning to me and find a link between them. This was so I could find something to have in common between them when photographing them.
Items:
This was the idea generation I managed to create. Between which objects I found a few links that could help me in my photographs. For instance they all have a negative side even though they're all of use to me. The socks are old and have holes, the cup has a crack, the cheese can be mouldy, the ball is dirty and the bands snap a lot and finally the necklace is quite expensive however the charm is a very cheap beer can top. I show these objects in a negative light for a link.
I found it very hard to find ideas for this and most of them were a bit of a stretch. This made me think that some of my ideas were a bit far fetched so perhaps I could use this as an idea. Maybe I could stretch each objects and they could follow each other on a path across multiple pages like a road. Maybe this idea is aldo a bit of a stretch but it sounds good to me.
A final idea I had was to show my objects in motion. I had this idea from the fact each object has traveled very far or come from somewhere very random. For instance the elastic band ball has been created over 10 years of my life from bands of the floor in Ireland, Newcastle, London and Leeds. So I could show this travel within a photography for each object.
